How to Set Up Your FamilyStick

Follow these seven steps to connect your FamilyStick to your TV and start playing.

Already set up but need help?

Before you start

Have your TV remote, both controllers, the Game Stick, the tiny USB receiver and the included USB power cable ready. Keep the short HDMI extension cable nearby in case you need it.

Batteries are not included. You will need batteries for both controllers.

Two connections are needed: HDMI connects the Game Stick to your TV. The USB cable supplies power.

1. Put batteries in both controllers

Open the battery compartment on the back of each controller and insert the batteries, matching the + and โˆ’ markings. Close the covers.

2. Plug in the USB receiver

Find the tiny USB piece with no cable attached. Plug it into the Game Stickโ€™s USB port.

This receiver lets the controllers connect wirelessly to the Game Stick.

3. Connect the power cable

Plug the small end of the included USB power cable into the Game Stickโ€™s power port. Connect the larger USB end to a USB power source.

A small light on the Game Stick will turn on when it receives power.

Keep this cable connected while you play. The HDMI connection alone does not power the Game Stick.

4. Connect the Game Stick to your TV

Plug the Game Stick into an HDMI port on your TV. Note the port number, such as HDMI 1 or HDMI 2.

Not enough space behind your TV? Connect the included short HDMI extension cable to the Game Stick, then plug the other end into the TV.
